Former Raiders center Barret Robbins has died at age 52, according to the team. The Hall of Fame center's former teammate Tim Brown first announced the passing on X, noting Robbins "passed peacefully in his sleep." Condolences poured in from teammates including Rich Gannon. Robbins played nine seasons for the Silver & Black from 1995-2003 after being selected in the second round of the 1995 NFL draft.

Robbins made 105 starts in 121 games and was elected to the Pro Bowl in 2002. He anchored the offensive line that helped the Raiders reach Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003. The center created concern when he disappeared before the big game, later revealing he had not taken medication for his depression and bipolar disorder. His absence impacted the team's performance in the Super Bowl loss to Tampa Bay.

After his NFL career, Robbins faced multiple legal challenges. He was shot by police in 2005 during a burglary investigation, served prison time from 2011-2012 for a drug-related probation violation, and faced assault charges in 2016. The cause of death was not disclosed by the team.
