The Carolina Panthers suffered significant secondary injuries in their Thursday night 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Already missing starting cornerbacks Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, along with fill-in Akayleb Evans, the team lost rookie cornerback Will Lee III to a hamstring injury in the second quarter. This forced the Panthers to promote Malcolm De Walt for his NFL debut and rely on practice-squad cornerback Marco Wilson.
Chau Smith-Wade also saw increased reps as the Panthers depleted their healthy corner options. The injury bug hit both sides, as Christian Watson also sustained a chest injury on the play but returned later in the game.
