Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks is expected to participate in offseason workouts and June minicamp after recovering from his second ACL surgery since 2023. Coach Dave Canales confirmed Brooks has progressed enough to join team activities, marking a significant milestone for the 2024 second-round pick.

Brooks first injured his right knee in November 2023 while playing for Texas. The Panthers selected him 46th overall despite knowing he might miss the regular season. He finally debuted in November 2024 but re-injured the knee just three games later against the Philadelphia Eagles, forcing him to miss the entire 2025 season.

Brooks' return eliminates the Panthers' need to re-sign Rico Dowdle, who led the team in rushing last season. Carolina will enter offseason workouts with Chuba Hubbard, Brooks, free agent signee AJ Dillon, and Trevor Etienne at running back. Canales expressed excitement about Brooks' progress, noting he's been working out with teammates and training at full capacity.
