Fernando Mendoza has expressed contentment with his role as the backup quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, playing behind the newly named starter Kirk Cousins. Mendoza stated on Thursday that his priority is daily improvement and learning from veteran leadership.

"Whatever decisions are made at the end, that's fantastic -- and I'm well for it," Mendoza said. "I just want the team to win, so that's where I'm at." He has observed significant progress in his offensive command, attributing it to a deeper grasp of the scheme and increased practice time with offensive linemen.

Mendoza has displayed greater composure in the pocket, evident during his work with the second-team offense in training camp. Running back Ashton Jeanty noted, "He's definitely getting more comfortable. He is going through his reads and getting the ball out quicker." Mendoza feels adapted to the team and its culture, though he acknowledges substantial room for growth in playbook knowledge and setting protections, stating, "I feel more comfortable, but I am nowhere near where I need to be."
