Mayfield Claps Back at Ex-Coach Stefanski on Social Media

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield took a public swipe at newly hired Atlanta Falcons coach Kevin Stefanski following Stefanski's move from the Cleveland Browns. Mayfield posted on social media, saying he never received a call or text after being traded, calling it being treated "like a piece of garbage."

The post came after a reporter labeled Mayfield a "failure" in Cleveland. Mayfield pushed back, referencing his 2020 playoff run and noting Stefanski was his coach during an inconsistent stretch. The Browns traded him to Carolina for a fifth-round pick after signing Deshaun Watson.

Stefanski, who was fired by Cleveland earlier this month after a 26-24 overall record and two AP Coach of the Year honors, will now face Mayfield twice a year in the NFC South. Mayfield has led Tampa Bay to two division titles since 2023 but missed the playoffs this season with an 8-9 mark.

Mayfield’s remarks reopen the narrative of his rocky exit from Cleveland. Fans will watch to see if this personal jab fuels extra intensity when the Falcons and Buccaneers clash.
