Jets rookie running back Chip Trayanum was taken to a hospital with a neck injury after being tackled on the final play of the first half in a 23-6 preseason loss to the Giants at Met Life Stadium on Friday night. The incident occurred when Trayanum took a handoff from quarterback Cade Klubnik and was immediately hit by Giants linebacker Trace Ford. Though he initially appeared to move after the hit, Trayanum remained motionless on his back, prompting trainers and doctors to rush to his aid.

After several minutes, he was placed in a neck brace, strapped to a backboard, and carted off the field. Jets players and coaches remained on the field, many on their knees praying, as he was attended to. Head coach Aaron Glenn later stated, "I think he'll be just fine," confirming Trayanum was awake, alert, and had movement in all extremities following the evaluation.
