Jaguars GM Denies Brian Thomas Trade Rumors

Jacksonville Jaguars general manager James Gladstone emphatically denied trade rumors surrounding receiver Brian Thomas Jr., calling them "fraudulent claims" during a press conference Thursday. Gladstone stated no teams made offers for the third-year player and emphasized Thomas remains "a big piece" of the Jaguars' offensive plans for 2026.

Thomas, who set a franchise rookie record with 1,282 receiving yards in 2024, struggled in 2025 after the team shifted its passing attack to rookie Travis Hunter. His difficulties included visible frustration on the field, with multiple incidents of throwing his helmet and kicking balls. The Jaguars acquired Jakobi Meyers and altered Thomas' usage when he returned from a high ankle sprain.

Gladstone expressed concern about the impact of trade reports on Thomas, saying he "worried" about the unnecessary pressure on the receiver. The GM emphasized the team's focus on building momentum from last season's passing attack, where Thomas' presence proved crucial despite his struggles. "We have no interest in disrupting" that momentum, Gladstone stated, dismissing the rumors as baseless speculation.
