Washington Commanders linebacker Leo Chenal will undergo season-ending neck surgery after suffering an injury during the team's 33-31 upset win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Chenal was carted off the field in the second quarter after appearing to lead with his head while tackling Seattle's Emanuel Wilson. The crowd at Northwest Stadium chanted his name as teammates surrounded him, and he raised his hand as he was taken off on a cart.

The Fox broadcast later reported that Chenal had feeling in all extremities and was taken to a hospital as a precaution. NFL reporter Jordan Schultz first reported the news of his season-ending surgery on Monday. Chenal was starting in place of the injured Frankie Luvu, who missed his second consecutive game with a groin injury.

The Commanders were already thin at the position, as inside linebacker Jordan Magee was placed on injured reserve after the opener with a hamstring injury.
