Colts WR Allen Faces 3-Game Suspension Over DUI Charge

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen faces a minimum three-game suspension from the NFL following his drunken driving arrest in downtown Indianapolis last month. Police officers reported Allen registered a .224 blood-alcohol level, nearly three times the legal limit, which could trigger a longer ban under league policy. Allen was formally charged with two misdemeanor offenses after being found parked in a no-parking zone.

While a three-game suspension is mandated by the collective bargaining agreement, the NFL may increase the penalty given his elevated intoxication level. The league is expected to wait for Allen's legal case to conclude before proceeding with discipline. An attorney conference is scheduled for Oct. 26.

Allen, 34, joined the Colts on a one-year deal in August and had six catches for 32 yards in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. Coach Shane Steichen stated the team is allowing the legal process to play out. The six-time Pro Bowler will miss valuable time as the Colts face a big defensive test against the Chiefs in Week 2.
