The Chiefs drew six primetime or standalone games for 2026 despite a 6-11 finish and Patrick Mahomes recovering from a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee. The season opener is Monday Night Football at home against the Broncos on Sept. 14, with Mahomes expected to start if rehab stays on track. GM Brett Veach said Mahomes has been in the building from 7 a.m. to 3 or 4 p.m. daily and is ahead of schedule.

Week 2 brings Sunday Night Football at Arrowhead versus the Colts, marking the first time in franchise history the Chiefs start with two primetime home games inside Arrowhead. Week 7 features running back Kenneth Walker III, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, returning to face his former team in Seattle. An early bye in Week 5 gives the roster time to settle before a demanding stretch.

Post-Thanksgiving, the Chiefs face a brutal road stretch: primetime at the Bills, then at the Rams and Bengals. No international game was granted, and the NFL denied a Christmas game request, ending a three-year holiday tradition. The 2026 schedule softens through Week 10 before turning harsh, putting enormous pressure on Mahomes' recovery and how Kansas City deploys Travis Kelce.
