The sale also sets a new record for a Kaboom! card, surpassing a Cristiano Ronaldo Kaboom! that traded hands privately for $1.35 million. Kaboom! cards are known for their rarity and desirability within the modern trading card market.

This particular Wembanyama card had previously sold for $516,000 in February. The sale price significantly outpaces other high-value Kaboom! cards, including a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander card that sold for $432,000 and a Luka Doncic card that fetched $396,500. The overall record for a Wembanyama card remains $5.11 million for a Prizm Black parallel sold privately.
