NBA's St. Patrick's Day Green Uniforms Fade After Nike Era

The NBA will not don green uniforms for St. Patrick's Day this year, ending a tradition that began in the mid-2000s with the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics. The league's uniform partnership with Nike, which began ahead of the 2017-18 season, shifted focus to the City Edition program rather than holiday-themed threads. ESPN reports the NBA and WNBA extended their Nike uniform contract through 2033.

Looking back, the Knicks went 3-3 in their green uniforms, the Bulls 4-6, the Celtics 4-4, and the Raptors 1-4. The Knicks' 2006 debut against the Pistons featured Jamal Crawford's 18-point bench performance in the green threads. The Raptors' lone victory came in 2010 when Chris Bosh hit the winning shot against the Hawks.
