NBA Revives Finals Trophy Logo

The NBA has revived a Larry O'Brien Trophy image at center court and the "The Finals" script logo for this year's championship series between the Spurs and Knicks. The markings will appear at both the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio and Madison Square Garden in New York, beginning Wednesday's Game 1.

This marks the first time since the 2009 Finals that the trophy logo will be prominently displayed at midcourt. The Finals wordmark and logo last graced the courts during the 2014 championship series between the Spurs and Miami Heat. Fans had increasingly voiced complaints on social media about the Finals courts lacking traditional flair.

The league's decision comes after years of criticism about inconsistent branding. While alternate courts are used for events like the NBA Cup, the Finals had been missing special markings. This year introduces a new twist: the center court trophy logo will incorporate the hosting team's branding, creating a unique visual element for each venue.
