Three-time NBA slam dunk contest champion Mac McClung has signed with Basquet Girona of Spain's top professional league, Liga ACB. His mother confirmed the deal to ESPN, stating that McClung, 27, had previously turned down overseas offers to pursue a full-time NBA role.

McClung's mother explained that he is no longer eligible for two-way contracts and that NBA teams were not ready to commit to him for the upcoming season. She added that Basquet Girona, owned by former NBA All-Star Marc Gasol, wants McClung to be their franchise player, a move he is looking forward to as he embraces a new chapter.

Gasol, the 2013 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, significantly influenced McClung's decision. McClung, who has played 17 NBA games, gained fame as the first G League player in the dunk contest and the first to win it three consecutive times. Despite a brief stint with the Indiana Pacers and a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls, he remains a prominent figure in the G League, holding records for career scoring and MVP awards.
