Leonard returns to Toronto after leaving as a free agent in 2019. During his lone season with the Raptors, he averaged 28.5 points per game in the playoffs and scored 732 points—the third-most in a single postseason in NBA history. The 35-year-old forward has one year remaining on his contract worth $50.3 million and becomes eligible to sign a two-year, $123.7 million extension with Toronto.

For the Clippers, this represents a shift toward rebuilding after six seasons with Leonard. The team failed to advance past the first round in three consecutive playoffs and recently traded away veterans James Harden and Ivica Zubac. LA's championship window closed without delivering the title that owner Steve Ballmer envisioned when acquiring Leonard in 2019.

Toronto adds a proven star to complement Ingram, who averaged 21.5 points over 77 games last season before re-signing for three years and $120 million.
