The Charlotte Hornets are acquiring veteran forward Dorian Finney-Smith and three second-round draft picks from the Houston Rockets. This move signals Charlotte's continued strategy of adding experienced, two-way players while stockpiling future assets. The Hornets now possess 20 tradeable second-round picks over the next seven seasons, the second-highest total in the NBA.

This acquisition comes after a busy offseason for the Hornets, who previously traded LaMelo Ball and other assets for Naz Reid and future draft capital. Houston, meanwhile, gains roster flexibility after recent moves, creating a $13 million trade exception. The Rockets also retained restricted free agent Tari Eason on a five-year deal.

Finney-Smith's arrival, along with Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale, bolsters Charlotte's perimeter shooting, defense, and overall depth. These veterans join a team that experienced a dramatic turnaround last season, narrowly missing the playoffs after a significant mid-season surge. The Hornets aim to end the league's longest playoff drought.
