An anonymous bidder on eBay shelled out $9,000,100 for a private lunch with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and legendary investor Warren Buffett. The meeting will take place in Omaha, Nebraska, next month, and both participants pledged to match the winning bid, directing proceeds to Curry’s Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation and the GLIDE Foundation, which supports San Francisco’s homeless population, and will be streamed live for fans worldwide.

Buffett’s charity lunch auctions began in 2000, raising $53 million for GLIDE over two decades before a pandemic pause. Since 2008 every winning bid topped $1 million, culminating in a $19 million record in 2022 that led Buffett to suspend the event. A 2024 attempt with Marc Benioff fetched $1.5 million but failed to gain traction, and sparked renewed interest among philanthropists.

Curry, who missed 27 games earlier this season, returned to help the Warriors finish strong, adding a philanthropic dimension to his on‑court comeback. The Currys thanked donors, saying the joint effort shows how sports and finance can unite for social good. The combined $10.5 million contribution will bolster GLIDE’s housing programs and expand Eat.Learn.Play.’s youth initiatives, including new scholarships for at‑risk students.
