Houston Rockets guard Amen Thompson sealed a 114-110 victory over the San Antonio Spurs by swatting away a last-second shot attempt by Victor Wembanyama. With five seconds remaining and Houston leading 112-110, Spurs point guard De'Aaron Fox passed to Wembanyama, who attempted a dunk. However, Thompson's 7-foot reach and leaping ability thwarted the shot, sending the ball to Fred VanVleet, who secured the win with free throws.
Thompson finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals, while Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun also contributed significantly. Sengun led with 29 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, marking his 35th career game with 25+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 5+ assists before age 25. The Rockets improved to 2-0, their best start since 2017-18.
