White Sox Promote Prospect Braden Montgomery in Series Boost

The Chicago White Sox promoted outfield prospect Braden Montgomery before Tuesday's matchup with Atlanta, inserting him into the starting lineup in right field with the sixth spot in the batting order. Montgomery becomes the 12th Chicago player to debut this season, marking a significant youth movement for the rebuilding franchise.

Montgomery, 23, posted a .970 OPS across Double-A and Triple-A this year after joining the organization in the December 2024 trade that sent Garrett Crochet to Boston. The switch-hitting outfielder was originally selected 12th overall from Texas A&M. His rapid ascent reflects the White Sox's aggressive development approach under the new front office.

Chicago enters Tuesday as one of just five American League teams above .500 this season, a remarkable turnaround from three consecutive 100-loss campaigns. The Montgomery promotion coincides with left-hander Joe Rock joining the roster from Triple-A Charlotte, while the team optioned Rikuu Nishida and David Sandlin and moved Austin Hays to the 60-day injured list.

Montgomery arrived from Boston alongside Chase Meidroth, Kyle Teel and Wikelman Gonzalez, with all three teammates already reaching the majors. This represents the White Sox's ongoing rebuild finally bearing fruit at the major league level.
