CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox general manager Chris Getz confirmed the team has no plans to promote top pitching prospects despite the team's MLB-worst 8.63 ERA after six games. The White Sox surrendered 52 runs on their opening road trip, including 47 earned runs, creating early-season questions about replacements.

Getz specifically pointed to opening day starter Shane Smith's struggles as the main culprit, with Smith giving up 10 earned runs in just 4⅔ innings across two starts. While the team has several promising first-round picks at Triple-A Charlotte, including lefties Hagen Smith and Noah Schultz, Getz emphasized patience with their development.

"When we feel like they're ready, they'll be up here," Getz said, noting that two of the three prospects are pitching at Triple-A for the first time. The GM stressed that regardless of major league struggles, prospects won't be rushed before they're prepared to handle multiple pitches and both-sided hitters. One bright spot has been rookie first baseman Munetaka Murakami, who homered in his first three MLB games and has impressed Getz with his quality at-bats.
