Twots Lose Top Prospect Rojas to Elbow Injury

The Minnesota Twins have placed left-hander Kendry Rojas on the 15-day injured list due to elbow inflammation, a significant blow to their pitching staff. The 23-year-old rookie made his MLB debut on April 22 and was 1-0 with a 1.26 ERA in five games this season. Rojas developed soreness during warmups and was scratched from his scheduled start Thursday.

The Twins also optioned right-hander Travis Adams to Triple-A St. Paul after he appeared in five games, going 1-0 with a save. To replace both pitchers on the 26-man roster, the team returned right-hander Cody Laweryson from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the IL. Left-hander Kody Funderburk was also recalled from St. Paul.

This roster shakeup creates uncertainty for the Twins' immediate pitching plans. Rojas' injury retroactive to Tuesday means he could return around June 13 if recovery proceeds normally. The team now faces the challenge of maintaining pitching depth while their top prospect recovers from elbow inflammation, potentially affecting their performance in the competitive AL Central.
