Max Scherzer revealed his 8-year-old daughter Brooke wrote a touching letter to the Toronto Blue Jays asking them to re-sign her father. The handwritten note, which Scherzer's wife Erica May-Scherzer shared on Instagram, expressed Brooke's love for Toronto and her hope that Scherzer would return to the team.

Scherzer said the letter emerged as his kids were writing to Santa Claus in December. Brooke sealed the envelope and asked for a stamp before going to bed, prompting her parents to open it later. The letter praised Toronto's attractions like the aquarium and CN Tower while expressing hope for a World Series victory.

Scherzer, 41, agreed to a $3 million, one-year contract with the Blue Jays after they came within one inning of winning the World Series last season. The veteran pitcher went 5-5 with a 5.19 ERA in 17 starts last year but remains motivated by the team's near-miss against the Dodgers. His deal includes $10 million in performance bonuses.
