Chourio, entering the third season of an eight-year, $82 million contract, was a key contributor last year, batting .270 with 21 home runs and 78 RBIs while leading the team with 35 doubles and four triples.

The Brewers immediately filled the roster spot by recalling outfielder Blake Perkins from Triple-A Nashville.
