The Houston Astros are reportedly finalizing a trade to acquire outfielder Daulton Varsho from the Toronto Blue Jays, according to sources. In exchange, the Blue Jays would receive right-handed pitcher Spencer Arrighetti, pending physicals.

Varsho, 30, addresses the Astros' long-standing need for a left-handed-hitting outfielder. He offers power, elite defense, and a veteran presence. This season, he is batting .243 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs, and he was a Gold Glove winner in 2024. Varsho is set to become a free agent after the current season. He leads all MLB outfielders with 83 defensive runs saved since 2022.

Arrighetti, 26, is 7-5 with a 4.60 ERA and 87 strikeouts this season. However, he is currently on the injured list with nerve irritation in his right foot.
