Shane van Gisbergen captured his second consecutive Sonoma Raceway win, becoming the winningest active NASCAR Cup Series driver on road and street courses. The Trackhouse Racing driver led 74 of the final 83 laps after starting sixth, holding off Chase Briscoe's late charge despite struggling with his car's handling throughout the weekend.

Briscoe finished just 0.357 seconds behind in second place, lamenting a critical error in Turn 1 with four laps remaining. The runner-up believed he had the superior car but couldn't capitalize on his advantage. Ty Gibbs completed the podium in third, with Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell rounding out the top five positions.

The In-Season Challenge delivered early drama as top seed Tyler Reddick fell victim to power steering failure, finishing 36th while Alex Bowman claimed the final tournament seed. Denny Hamlin survived contact with Carson Hocevar to advance despite a 26th-place result. Reddick's misfortune allowed Hamlin to assume the Chase points lead by a single point.

Van Gisbergen's eighth road course victory breaks his tie with Chase Elliott and vaults him three positions to 14th in points. However, with no road or street courses remaining in the final 18 races, the New Zealander faces pressure to improve on ovals if he hopes to remain championship relevant.
