NEW YORK -- UCLA's national championship celebration continued at the WNBA draft as the Bruins made history with five first-round selections. Lauren Betts, Gabriela Jaquez, and Kiki Rice went with picks Nos. 4-6, following their NCAA championship victory just a week earlier. The 6-foot-7 Betts was taken by the Washington Mystics at No. 4, with Jaquez then selected by the Chicago Sky.

Rice became the expansion Toronto Tempo's first-ever draft pick at No. 6. The Bruins' historic night continued when Gianna Kneepkens was drafted by the Connecticut Sun with the 15th and final first-round pick. UCLA becomes the first program to achieve five first-round selections, surpassing UConn's previous record of four from 2002.

Tennessee, Notre Dame, and South Carolina previously had five players drafted, but not all in the first round. Betts described the moment as special, watching her teammates succeed after their collective hard work throughout the season. The Bruins finished 37-1 and capped their dominant year by setting this new WNBA draft milestone.
