Frances Tiafoe captured his first ATP title of the year and his maiden grass-court trophy by defeating fifth-seeded Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 in Sunday's all-American final in Halle, Germany. The American served eight aces and never faced a break point throughout the match, dominating on serve to secure his fourth career title.

This victory marked only Tiafoe's second win in nine career meetings with Fritz, avenging a painful US Open semifinal loss from two years ago. For Fritz, the defeat came after he eliminated French Open champion Alexander Zverev in Saturday's semifinals, but he couldn't maintain that form against his compatriot in the championship match.

The ATP 500 grass-court event in eastern Germany traditionally serves as Wimbledon preparation, with the All England Club starting play on June 29. Fritz reached the semifinals in Halle last year before losing to Carlos Alcaraz, showing his grass-court pedigree.

Tiafoe's triumph provides a significant confidence boost heading into SW19, where he'll aim to translate this grass-court success into his best Wimbledon performance yet.
