The 44-year-old American, who has not played since her 2022 US Open farewell, approaches this comeback with no pressure, declaring "I don't need to win" and noting she has nothing to prove.

Williams, who claimed 39 Grand Slam titles during her career, revealed her decision boiled down to a simple "Why not?" after previously stating she believed she "definitely was not" returning. The mother of two emphasized she wants her kids, particularly older daughter Olympia, to experience watching her compete at the highest level while enjoying the sport again without expectations.

While Williams hasn't ruled out a return to singles, she acknowledged she would need more training for that level. Her partner Mboko expressed confidence in Williams' current form, noting She's hitting great with "clean ball striking" and suggesting she could quickly find her rhythm on grass.
