Seahawks GM: Sale Won't Derail Super Bowl Repeat Bid

Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said the team's ownership sale won't hinder the organization's offseason plans as they pursue a second consecutive Super Bowl title. Speaking at the NFL combine, Schneider said he had a productive conversation with owner Jody Allen, who put the team up for sale last week, and expects business to proceed as usual.

Schneider plans to seek advice from Denver Broncos GM George Paton, who navigated a similar sale process in 2022. The Seahawks enter the offseason with approximately $59 million in cap space, sixth-most in the NFL, positioning them well to retain key free agents. The team faces critical decisions with six unrestricted free agents, including Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III, cornerback Devon Witherspoon, and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

While Schneider expressed desire to keep the championship roster intact, he acknowledged the challenge of retaining multiple key players. The organization won't use the franchise tag on Walker, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Despite the ownership transition, Schneider emphasized the team's focus remains on maintaining their championship core while navigating the complex free agency period that could determine whether Seattle becomes the first team this century to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
