Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano will headline Most Valuable Promotions' first MMA card on May 16, marking Rousey's return after an eight-year absence. The former UFC bantamweight champion last fought in December 2016, losing to Amanda Nunes, while Carano retired in 2009 after a knockout defeat to Cris Cyborg. Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian told ESPN that Rousey is a '1-of-1 athlete' who generated millions in pay-per-view revenue during her prime.

While no additional fights have been announced for the card, ESPN analysts have proposed three fantasy matchups that would complement the main event. Brett Okamoto suggests a third fight between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir, citing their intense rivalry and memorable UFC 100 rematch. Andreas Hale advocates for Anderson Silva versus Chris Weidman III, noting Silva's recent boxing success at age 50 despite being 2-0 down in their series. Both analysts believe these matchups would create compelling storylines for a Netflix-streamed event.

Nate Diaz remains a wildcard option, with Okamoto arguing that 'MVP and Netflix would have me at Diaz' regardless of opponent. The Stockton native hasn't fought since 2021 but recently expressed interest in returning against names like Dustin Poirier or Mike Perry. This card represents a significant moment for women's MMA, bringing together two pioneers who helped legitimize the women's divisions during their respective primes.
