Notre Dame landed a major recruiting victory Monday with four-star wide receiver Julius Jones Jr. committing to the Irish. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound pass catcher from Fort Lauderdale chose Notre Dame over Miami and Oregon during a live appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. Jones Jr. is ranked No. 50 in the SC Next 300 and caught 58 passes for 876 yards with 14 touchdowns as a junior at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

The commitment carries special significance as Jones follows in his father's footsteps. Julius Jones Sr. starred at running back for Notre Dame from 1999 to 2003, leading the program in rushing three times and finishing sixth in school history with 3,018 career yards. His uncle Thomas Jones also played at Virginia before an NFL career. Jones told McAfee, 'It's just the mystique of Notre Dame -- there's only one in the world.'

Notre Dame now holds the No. 6 overall recruiting class under coach Marcus Freeman, and Jones becomes the second-ranked prospect in the 2027 cycle behind offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola. His younger brother Andre, a four-star safety in the 2028 class, also pledged to the Irish during the same show. Florida has become a key recruiting territory for Freeman, with Jones representing the fourth Sunshine State commitment in 2027.

Jones joins a promising skill position group including quarterback commit Wonderful Monds IV and running backs Isaiah Rogers and Lathan Whisenton. This family legacy commitment strengthens Notre Dame's offensive foundation while maintaining momentum in one of the nation's top recruiting classes.
