Michigan State's Fears Jr. Draws Tech for Groin Kick in Loss

Michigan State point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. drew another technical foul for kicking an opponent in the groin during the Spartans' 90-80 loss to No. 3 Michigan. Video review showed Fears swung his right leg backward and into Elliot Cadeau during the first half of the emotionally charged rivalry game.

This marks the second time this season Fears has been penalized for a similar incident. Earlier this season, he appeared to intentionally trip Yaxel Lendeborg in Michigan's win over Michigan State. Michigan coach Dusty May called out several dangerous plays in that contest, and Spartans coach Tom Izzo said Fears is now under intense scrutiny.

Fears has faced scrutiny before, including a foul and technical for hitting Langston Reynolds' groin area during a game at Minnesota. His breakout season comes after recovering from a near-death experience in December 2023 when he was shot in the thigh and required three-hour surgery to remove a bullet.
