No. 12 seed High Point pulled off the stunning 83-82 upset over fifth-seeded Wisconsin in the NCAA tournament's first round. Panthers guard Chase Johnston scored 14 points, including the game-winning layup with 11.7 seconds remaining, while Rob Martin added 23 points and 10 assists to lead the underdog Panthers to victory.

Johnston, who had previously made zero 2-point baskets all season, delivered his only inside shot when it mattered most. The Panthers, listed as 10½-point underdogs, sealed their victory when Terry Anderson stole Wisconsin's final attempt with one second left. Nick Boyd scored 27 points for the Badgers, but it wasn't enough to overcome High Point's late-game heroics.

This victory marked High Point's first NCAA tournament win in program history. The Panthers earned their tournament berth by capturing the Big South title for the second consecutive season under first-year coach Flynn Clayman, who replaced Alan Huss. High Point will face either 13th-seeded Hawaii or No. 4 seed Arkansas in Saturday's second round of the Midwest Region.
