The International Boxing Hall of Fame inducted a star‑studded 2026 class in Canastota, New York, on Sunday. Gennadiy Golovkin capped a 42‑2‑1 career with 37 knockouts, while former light‑heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver delivered a heartfelt speech. Fellow middleweight champion Nigel Benn also joined the roll of honor.

Golovkin’s résumé features a record‑tying 20 consecutive title defenses at 160 pounds, a reign that began in 2010 and ended when Canelo Álvarez edged him in 2018. The Kazakh thanked his family, trainers, and even the Madison Square Garden staff who witnessed many of his marquee bouts.

Benn, a former middleweight and four‑year super‑middleweight champion, retired with a 42‑5‑1 record and 35 knockouts, underscoring his longevity across weight classes. Women’s pioneer Naoko Fujioka, Japan’s first five‑division titleholder, and two‑division champion Jackie Nava also entered the Hall, highlighting the sport’s expanding global footprint.

Cutmen Russ Anber and Jimmy Glenn, referee Frank Cappuccino and physician Dr. Edwin “Flip” Homansky rounded out the inductees, reminding fans that boxing’s success rests on behind‑the‑scenes contributors. Their collective recognition cements a generation that defined modern boxing and gives the Hall a richer narrative for future enthusiasts.
