Former three‑weight champion Gervonta Davis was taken into custody Wednesday night in Miami’s Design District after a two‑week manhunt. Police and the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force swept three counties, executing the warrant issued Jan. 14 for battery, false imprisonment and attempted kidnapping. Davis was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Investigators say Davis entered a strip club on Oct. 27, dragged his ex‑girlfriend, VIP server Courtney Rossel, into a back room, and assaulted her, grabbing her hair and throat before moving her to the parking lot. Rossel’s attorney Jeff Chukwuma confirmed the civil complaint mirrors the police report, and a judge signed the arrest warrant.

The arrest forced Davis out of his scheduled bout with Jake Paul at Miami’s Kaseya Center, prompting promoters to slot Anthony Joshua as a replacement. Davis last fought in March, drawing with Lamont Roach Jr., and carries a history of domestic‑violence charges and a 2023 probation sentence in Maryland, leaving his future licensing uncertain.
