In 1996, recent college graduates Adam Bloom and his four friends embarked on an ambitious MLB ballpark road trip. Their mission: to collect gum and spit from Major League Baseball All-Stars into glass baby food jars. This unusual quest, born from Bloom's dream of visiting every MLB park, culminated in an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

During their journey, the friends, including Kevin Berson, Pratik "Pate" Patel, Anthony "A.Y." Young, and Charlie Cook, encountered cooperative players. At Dodger Stadium, Sammy Sosa obliged their request. In Atlanta, David Justice provided gum and spit. Baltimore saw Jim Palmer and Chuck Knoblauch participate, with Knoblauch humorously spitting and drinking his spit. However, at Yankee Stadium, Wade Boggs declined due to superstition, though Manager Joe Torre and pitcher Daryl Strawberry complied.

Tracy Abbott, a producer from The Tonight Show, joined them for part of the trip, documenting their experiences. The collected jars, with donor names on the caps, have been preserved by Bloom for 30 years, a testament to their unique summer adventure that captured national attention.
