At the 2025 All-Star Weekend, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert sidestepped a question about her future, saying she will continue executing the league’s strategy. She welcomed the growth of the league, praising players and the team she has built.

Engelbert’s tenure has faced scrutiny; many owners and insiders suggest the 2026 season could be her last. NBA commissioner Adam Silver noted ongoing discussions about the future, while Engelbert highlighted the launch of a centralized replay center for the 2027 season.

The replay center, leveraging NBA infrastructure in Secaucus, New Jersey, will give officials instant access to multiple camera angles and support staff, aiming for consistency, efficiency and transparency. Engelbert said the officiating task force’s work is paying off and that the league will keep improving.

She also announced that an independent probe into the Las Vegas Aces found no evidence of salary‑cap violations, and that no discipline will be imposed. In meetings with players, Engelbert emphasized better communication, security protocols and a hopeful path forward for trust between players and league officials.
