Phoenix Mercury legend Diana Taurasi, the WNBA's all-time leading scorer, has expressed her desire to join the team's ownership group within the next year or two. Two days before her No. 3 jersey is retired, Taurasi told ESPN that ownership has "always been on my mind" and that she wants to "have an influence on where this franchise goes." She emphasized that her goal would be to remain involved in Phoenix.

Taurasi's post-playing career is being celebrated this weekend. A street outside the arena has been renamed "10646 Taurasi Way" to reflect her career points, and one of three outdoor courts has been dedicated as Diana Taurasi Court. On Sunday, her jersey will be retired during halftime of the Mercury's game against the Portland Fire.

Taurasi, who played 20 seasons with the Mercury, winning three WNBA titles, reflected on her career and the league's current state. She believes the WNBA is in a great place stylistically and is looking forward to potential ownership, stating, "When I do it, I want to be around." She also noted a significant weight lifted upon her retirement, allowing her to appreciate the game and its players more.
