Club América Femenil captured its first international title on Saturday, edging Washington Spirit 5-3 in a wild Concacaf W Champions Cup final in Pachuca. Brazil’s Geyse netted a brace, while captain Scarlett Camberos added two, including a stoppage‑time strike. Substitute Irene Guerrero sealed the win with the decisive goal in the 79th minute.

América entered the showdown after a 4-1 semifinal demolition of NWSL champions Gotham FC, where Camberos recorded a hat‑trick. The victory guarantees a berth in the 2027 FIFA Champions Cup and the 2028 Club World Cup, joining Barcelona, who clinched the European title earlier that day. The NWSL will miss the 2027 tournament, as Miami hosts.

Washington fought back, erasing a two‑goal hole and taking a 3-2 lead before a defensive lapse allowed América to respond. Rosemonde Kouassi’s sixth tournament goal earned her the Golden Boot, but her efforts weren’t enough. Scarlett Camberos, named player of the tournament, lifted the trophy, cementing América’s rise in North American women’s club soccer.

Spirit coach Adrián González praised his squad’s resilience after the loss, noting the experience will fuel future finals runs. Washington’s Sofia Cantore sparked the comeback with a 40‑yard solo effort, while goalkeeper Sandy MacIver’s mis‑clearance led to Geyse’s equaliser. The defeat leaves the Spirit without a continental trophy but with valuable tournament exposure.
