The Edmonton Oilers avoided a slow start to the 2026-27 NHL season, and their early success has put them near the top of the league's power rankings.
Connor McDavid has once again led the charge for Edmonton, driving the offense and setting the tempo for his team from the opening puck drop. His presence continues to be the foundation of the Oilers' attack, and the team's quick start reflects the strength of its top players.
Evan Bouchard has also been a key contributor, providing offensive production from the blue line and helping Edmonton generate scoring chances. His play has been a major factor in the Oilers' ability to build momentum early in the campaign.
The combination of McDavid and Bouchard has given Edmonton a potent one-two punch that has made the team difficult to contain. If the Oilers can sustain this level of play through the grind of the regular season, they will remain serious contenders in the Western Conference and beyond.
