Who changed the game? - player ratings for Arsenal v Leeds

Arsenal edged past Leeds in a Premier League match that was not one of their most convincing displays. Leeds opened the scoring through James Justin, a well-worked goal assisted by Gabriel Gudmundsson, but Arsenal struck back with an equaliser from Riccardo Calafiori, whose header-set-up came from Ben White. The Leeds goal came down White's side, and his caught-offside moments earlier in the half had been a frustration as Arsenal built promising attacks.

The winner arrived from Bruno Guimaraes, who came on in the 63rd minute, changed the game and scored. Declan Rice had earlier tried to inject energy into an Arsenal side struggling to create, and he provided a clever assist for the goal. Lewis-Skelly, back in the starting line-up after being dropped for Guimaraes, had not had his best day.

Arsenal's attack struggled for rhythm throughout. Bukayo Saka caused early problems for Gudmundsson but never capitalised on his opportunities, and he missed a big late chance to add a third. Noni Madueke delivered some good crosses without posing enough of a threat, while Kai Havertz, who started despite a hamstring injury picked up on international duty, did not look fully sharp.

For Leeds, goalkeeper James Trafford will be disappointed with how he conceded the equaliser, though he showed his passing range. Muharemovic and Elvedi were dependable at the back, and Ao Tanaka and Ethan Ampadu worked hard in midfield to give Leeds a solid platform. Leeds came close to an upset, but ultimately could not hold on.
