MLB Roster Adjustments Pre-Season
As the regular season approaches, several clubs finalized opening day rosters with significant subtractions, signaling immediate concerns for key personnel. Chicago suffered a blow as outfielder Seiya Suzuki will miss the Thursday opener against Washington after sustaining a minor ligament strain in his right knee during the World Baseball Classic tournament. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Orioles optioned right-hander Dean Kremer to the minor leagues, a surprising move given that Kremer led the team last year in wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts. Furthermore, the Pittsburgh Pirates reassigned their highly touted 19-year-old prospect, Konnor Griffin, to minor league camp on Saturday, indicating the organization is prioritizing development time over immediate big-league contribution for the teenager.
