MLB Roster Moves Signal Final Cuts
As Major League Baseball teams finalize Opening Day rosters, several organizations made notable downward assignments and releases over the past day. The Baltimore Orioles optioned starter Dean Kremer to the minor leagues despite his leading the team in wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts during the previous campaign, signaling a strategic decision regarding the initial rotation structure. Concurrently, the Pittsburgh Pirates reassigned their top prospect, 19-year-old Konnor Griffin, to minor league camp Saturday, indicating he will not break camp with the major league club this season. Furthermore, the Texas Rangers granted their release to veteran reliever Ryan Brasier, formerly of the Red Sox and Cubs, suggesting a late shift in bullpen composition for the defending World Series champions.
