Sequen Secures $16M for Personalization Tech

Sequen, founded by former Etsy executive Zoë Weil, raised $16 million in Series A funding to bring TikTok-style personalization technology to consumer businesses. The company offers real-time personalization and ranking infrastructure similar to what powers major tech platforms but has been inaccessible to most companies due to massive data requirements. Sequen's technology processes 10 billion monthly requests.

Sequen's "Large Event Models" generalize streams of events and human behavior, unlike traditional LLMs. The technology delivers impressive results: a furniture client saw 7% revenue lift compared to previous 0.4% improvements, while Fetch Rewards achieved 20% revenue increase in 11 days. Privacy-focused approach uses real-time user actions rather than third-party cookies, eliminating need for user identity.

The Series A round, co-led by White Star Capital and Threshold Ventures, brings Sequen's total funding to $22 million. The startup's proprietary RankTune platform allows companies to swap existing APIs for Sequen's frontier ranking models. With contracts in the seven figures from five Fortune 500 clients, Sequen has established itself as a significant player in the personalization technology market.
