Natural has secured $30 million in Series A funding to revolutionize payments for AI agents, aiming to challenge established players like Stripe. The startup's mission is to create financial infrastructure that supports autonomous transactions, a capability current systems, built for human-initiated actions, lack.

Co-founder and CEO Kahlil Lalji recognized that AI agents' increasing sophistication outpaced existing financial architecture. Natural positions itself as an orchestration layer enabling AI agents to move and store funds, allowing for autonomous payments, collections, and inter-agent transactions. The funding round was led by Forerunner, with Kirsten Green highlighting Natural's broader ambitions beyond consumer checkouts.

While Natural has operated in beta, Lalji believes its architectural decisions position it to compete with incumbents like Stripe. The company aims for rapid development to build the financial backbone for AI agents, attracting talent from Stripe, Ramp, and Square. Natural plans to incorporate stablecoins and traditional bank payments, anticipating a significant market expansion if transactions can occur at computer speed.
