Founders Fund, the venture arm behind Facebook, SpaceX, and Palantir, just completed a $220 million Series E that values Halter at $2 billion. The New Zealand‑based startup sells solar‑powered smart collars that let farmers create virtual fences and monitor cattle from a smartphone. Its first 30 million‑user network now covers more than 2,000 farms.

Each collar runs on solar power, emitting low‑frequency audio and vibration cues that train cattle to stay within virtual boundaries. The system collects behavioral data, tracks health and fertility, and can flag sickness. Piggott says the data set is the largest of its kind, enabling a 20% lift in land productivity on some farms.
