AI-powered travel agency Fora has achieved unicorn status, reaching a $1 billion valuation after closing a $60 million Series D funding round. The round was led by Forerunner and Tactile Ventures, with participation from Insight Partners and Thrive Capital.

Founded in 2021, Fora operates as a dual platform. It empowers individuals to become travel agents by providing the necessary infrastructure for client communication and trip planning. Simultaneously, it enables users to connect with experienced advisors for planning various occasions, from honeymoons to family vacations, to destinations worldwide.

This latest funding brings Fora's total raised to $138.5 million. A portion of the capital will be dedicated to enhancing its AI assistant, Via. This tool is designed to automate administrative tasks for travel agents, such as research and itinerary creation, allowing them to focus more on client relationships rather than being replaced by AI.

Since its inception, agents on the Fora platform have facilitated over $3 billion in travel bookings, with many agents being new to the industry. The company plans to utilize the funds for expansion into new travel categories like cruises and flights, as well as for general growth and hiring.
