Bluecore Energy raised $10M in a pre‑seed round led by Slauson & Co. The startup, founded seven months ago by former Uber Freight exec Kofi Asante, is building small nuclear reactors on floating barges to supply clean power to ports and nearby infrastructure.

The reactors heat water, generate steam, and drive a turbine in a closed‑loop water‑cooling system. Energy can be shipped by vessel with zero transport emissions, and the plants require refueling only every few years, potentially powering the equivalent of 15,000 homes or a major port.

Capital will fund a port terminal, barge, and a test reactor pressure vessel, while Bluecore combines hardware and software testing and works with regulatory agencies to embed maximum safety. The design layers include a uranium core in a thick steel vessel, concrete shielding, and steel lining.

Investors also include Harlem Capital, Precursor Ventures, Ripple co‑founder Chris Larsen, and Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Ventures, supporting the company’s goal to meet rising data‑center energy demands.
