Number 11 Downing Street hosted a cohort of founders last week as Tech Nation unveiled its latest Future Fifty programme for fast-growing UK scaleups. The initiative, now in its 10th year, selected 25 companies from over 5,760 applicants, with 70% based outside London to promote regional innovation across the UK.

Among the chosen startups are well-known names like Gymshark, Skyscanner, and Darktrace, alongside emerging disruptors in fintech, healthtech, and climate tech. The programme provides tailored mentorship, investor connections, and strategic support to help companies scale internationally. Participants include firms from diverse sectors, with 65% led by diverse founders and 49% featuring female co-founders on their leadership teams.

This year's cohort represents a combined valuation exceeding £7.8 billion, reflecting the strength of the UK's startup ecosystem. The programme has a track record of success, with alumni companies collectively valued at over £70 billion and creating thousands of jobs nationwide. By supporting companies at the critical scale-up phase, Tech Nation aims to cement the UK's position as a global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
