Yousend has officially launched its stablecoin remittance service in the UK and Canada following a private beta that processed over $1m in transactions. The app leverages blockchain-based stablecoin settlement to replace traditional pre-funded float models, achieving settlement times of under 15 seconds. Regulatory approvals from the UK Financial Conduct Authority, Canada's FINTRAC, and Nigeria's Central Bank enabled the rollout.

The Africa remittance market represents a massive opportunity, with $104bn flowing in 2024 according to the World Bank. Nigeria alone captured $19.8bn of inflows, making it a prime target for the UK-to-Africa corridor worth $11.46bn. Traditional mobile transfers cost 5-9% in fees, creating pain points for diaspora communities.

Cofounder Adeoye Ojo spent years developing this regulated solution after experiencing slow cross-border payments firsthand in 2016. Backers include Digital Currency Group, CMT Ventures, and CoinSwitch Ventures. The platform offers 24/7 human customer support, addressing a critical gap in existing services where users often face automated responses.

Yousend currently serves transfers from the UK and Canada to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Tanzania, with EU and US capabilities planned for upcoming months. The company positions itself as infrastructure built by the diaspora community it serves.
